The first meeting matters most. A few habits make it safer, every time.
Meet in public places.Choose a busy café, restaurant, or public space, at least for your first few dates.
Tell a friend where you're going.Share who you're meeting, and when and where, before you go.
Arrange your own transportation.Get yourself to and from the date. Don't rely on a stranger for a ride.
Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, that feeling is reason enough to leave.
02
Online Safety
Everything that happens after "hello" should happen on your terms.
Never send money. Not to someone you haven't met in person, no matter the story.
Never share passwords. Not for SnapMate, your email, your bank, or anything else.
Avoid suspicious links.Don't click links sent by people you don't know well yet.
Keep chat inside the app.Be cautious if someone pushes hard to move to another app right away.
03
Common Scams
Most scams follow a pattern. Recognizing it early is the best defense.
The "emergency" money request+
Someone you've only spoken with online claims a sudden crisis — medical bill, stranded travel, a business opportunity — and asks for money or gift cards. Genuine partners don't ask new matches for money.
The too-good-to-be-true profile+
Extremely polished photos, a profile that avoids video calls, and a story that shifts details over time. Ask for a live video chat before investing trust.
The external link or investment pitch+
A match steers the conversation toward a crypto platform, trading app, or "can't miss" investment. Treat unsolicited financial advice from a match as a red flag.

Emergency Help
If you're in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first — SnapMate's team cannot dispatch help.
In the United States, dial 911. In the European Union, dial 112. If you need domestic violence or crisis support, local hotlines are typically reachable 24/7 — search "[your country] crisis helpline" or ask a trusted local contact.
